The Mediterranean Sea is the most dangerous refugee route in the world. From 2015 to 2019 more than 20.000 humans lost their lives while trying to escape from their home. Only due to the commitment of volunteers, who did not simply want to watch this mass death at sea, thousands of people could be rescued. To illustrate the significance of sea rescue, I’ve created and built a special calendar in shape of the Mediterranean Sea, which chronologically shows how many refugees could be rescued everyday- and probably only survived that way.
